General Description of Bima Regency

A. Geographic

Bima is one of otonomy regions from 7 Regencies and 2 Cities in Province West Nusa Tenggara. Located at the end of east Sumbawa Island with wide area about 437,465 Ha or same with 22.10% of total area in West Nusa Tenggara.

B. Topography

Populary, Bima Regency has a hilly topography. Every region have enough variation from high lands to lower ones. It has several relatives high mountains like Maria Mountain (183.25 m), Soromandi-Donggo (477.50 m), Tambora ( 451 m), and Sangiang-Wera Mount (290.50 m).

C. Climate

Bima has tropic climate with short of rainy season. Based on climate categories by Smith and Fergusen, Bima Regency has type C, D, and E which mean in cloudy weather, the temperature at noon ( 30⁰C – 32⁰C) goes down to 19⁰C – 20⁰C.

D. Population and Religion

Total population in Bima Regency (based on data in 2006) is amount 410,322 people which 90% are Bimanese. Majority of people faith is Muslim and also have Hindu, Protestant, Catholic, and Budha. No conflict with the religion of them and they live together with peaceful and respect.
